On March 5th, according to the Nvidia GPU product roadmap, the GTX 16 series was completely discontinued in the first quarter of 2024, officially becoming history. This marks the end of the long and legendary era of the GTX series, and there are currently no alternative models after the series is discontinued. The GTX 16 series GPU chips include GTX 1660 Super, 1660, 1650, 1630 and other models.
At present, the inventory of GTX 16 series GPUs has also been distributed to major AIC brand manufacturers, and related GPUs are expected to be consumed within 1 to 3 months.
In fact, there were reports in December last year that Nvidia planned to completely discontinue the GTX 16 series GPUs starting from the first quarter of 2024. Nvidia will completely discontinue the popular mid range series, which lacks ray tracing and DLSS acceleration support, as Nvidia has now fully shifted to the RTX brand.
The GTX 16 series was introduced in 2019 and is a sister version of the RTX 20 series. It shares the same Turing architecture, but lacks hardware ray tracing and DLSS, making it suitable for mainstream and entry-level players who do not need these new technologies.
GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1660 SUPER, GTX 1660, and GTX 1650 SUPER have been discontinued and delisted one after another. The only remaining ones are GTX 1650 and GTX 1630, with their lowest prices around 1000 yuan and 800 yuan respectively, which are currently one of the few true thousand yuan cards. After these two products are delisted, there are no replacement products available, and in the future, if you want to buy a graphics card, you will have to spend at least 2000 yuan
As of the time of publication, JD.com has been unable to find GTX 1660 Super graphics cards from top tier manufacturers, but there are still a large number of second-hand graphics cards available for sale; The GTX 1650 and GTX 1630 models still have a large number of first tier models on sale, mostly in the price range of 999-1099 yuan and 699-899 yuan.
However, Nvidia launched an RTX 3050 6GB graphics card based on the Ampere architecture last month, which does not require external power supply. However, this new card's positioning does not seem to fully cover the entry-level market, and Nvidia may launch other new products to fill the gap in the future.
